Council workers countrywide have not been paid their June 2019 salaries.

Zambia United Local Authorities’ Workers Union –ZULAWU- General Secretary Emmanuel Mwinsa who confirmed the development to Phoenix News said council employees are likely to go for two months without pay since the month of July is coming to an end and there has been no sign of payment of salaries.

Mr. Mwinsa attributed the delay in payment of salaries to delays in the timely allocation and disbursement of the local government equalization fund.

He has since appealed to the relevant authorities to quickly into the matter to avoid work stoppage by the affected workers.
