We, a consortium of political parties and non-governmental organizations, strongly urge Zambian people to rally behind President Edgar Lungu as he means well for the country and ignore Government critics as they have nothing to offer them except peddling falsehoods against Government officials, propagating hate-speech and tarnishing the country’s image abroad in their futile attempt to agitate for regime change.

It’s worth noting that a cartel of politicians and the so-called human rights activists, in an alliance with some media outlets hostile to Government, have orchestrated the aggressive ‘paint-President Edgar Lungu black’ campaign as a calculated scheme to agitate for regime change through peddling falsehoods against Government officials, propagating hate-speech and tarnishing the country’s image abroad.

We have noted with dismay how the said scheme is a futile attempt to erode Zambians’ confidence in President Lungu and the PF Government as the clock ticks towards 2021.

Surprisingly, the said disgruntled elements have alleged that the first Family owns 48 houses suspected to be built from proceeds of crime.

It’s extremely shocking that those who have falsely accused President Lungu and the first family of being corrupt have not faced the wrath of the law.

They should be arrested for abusing freedom of expression and the media by falsely accusing innocent citizens.

We call upon the law enforcement agencies to summon the said disgruntled elements to prove their claims.
