THE Copperbelt University (CBU) management has rescinded its decision to charge students K1500 for damages they caused during riots.

The students will now pay K150 each.

CBU academics union President Derrick Ntalasha confirmed the development.

This comes after intervention from Minister of Higher Education Brian Mushimba.

Ntalasha says students that were suspended will be charged K1000 each, while those that were expelled but later put on suspension for one academic year will still pay K1500 each upon returning to the institution.

Ntalasha says the K150 will have to be paid by all returning students before they are re-admitted to the institution.
