A STAFF sergeant in the Zambia Army in Kabwe has shocked his family after he was exposed for allegedly sexually abusing his 12-year-old daughter. The 31-year-old suspect of Chimanimani, identified as Godfrey Miyanda, is now in police custody and is facing a charge of incest. Central Province commissioner of police Chola Katanga in an interview yesterday said Staff Sergeant Miyanda allegedly had sex with his daughter last Thursday around 21:00 hours. “She was defiled by her biological father.

The suspect, who is a soldier, staff sergeant by rank, is based at the Brigade headquarters here in Kabwe,” Mr Katanga said. He said the girl is complaining of pain after her father allegedly forced himself on her. Mr Katanga said Miyanda is in police custody at Bwacha Police Station and the police have continued their investigations into the matter. He said the victim’s aunt reported the suspect to the police.
