Statement On Why Some Zambian Political Parties Are Irrelevant

September2, 2019

We have noted with dismay how some Opposition political party leaders are using Zambians as a scapegoat in their selfish quest to wrestle power from President Edgar Lungu when in fact they do not even care for the people they are purporting to represent.

Zambians should be wary of such Opposition leaders’ hypocrisy of pretending to speak on their behalf when in fact they are pushing their ill-conceived and selfish agenda for regime change.

For example, some politicians who are now in the Opposition vehemently defended Government decisions and policies while serving in Government are now criticizing what they previously defended.

Some of those who desire to get to State House at all cost are frustrated and bitter because Zambians have rejected them several times at the ballot box.

In fact, these politicians are ready to do anything to wrestle power from President Lungu, including auctioning the country to the highest bidder.

It’s abundantly clear from the foregoing that some of the  Opposition leaders have nothing to offer except peddling falsehoods against President Lungu and other Government officials, tarnishing the country’s image abroad, promoting tribalism and hate-speech in their futile attempt to erode the Zambian people’s confidence in the Republican President and PF Government.

We believe that the current crop of opposition leaders have lost relevance to the country’s political discourse.

However, what the country needs is a new generation of opposition leaders who are fully conversant with their role of providing checks and balances to Government, and not those bent on criticizing everything Government says and does.

We urge the Zambian people to rally behind President Lungu’s leadership as he means well for the country.
