President Edgar Lungu has revoked the appointment of George Siame as chairperson of the Financial Intelligence Centre board, barely 24 hours after he was appointed.
This is according to a statement released yesterday by Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations, Isaac Chipampe. “I am hereby revoking this appointment with immediate effect.
I thank you and wish you God’s blessings in your future endeavours,” the President said. Mr Siame’s appointment, as well as that of other board members of the FIC, was announced on Tuesday by Minister of Finance Bwalya Ng’andu.
Yesterday, Dr Ng’andu said only people of integrity and have knowledge of their work are picked to serve on boards of public institutions. He said if in the process of vetting individuals something was missed, then that could be corrected.
