The Zambian DNA condemns in the strongest terms political violence being perpetrated by some political parties in Kaoma as violence has no place or space in our peace loving nation.
We regret that once again, political violence has erupted in Kaoma as was a case in Sesheke, where many people were injured and the election campaign was marred with violence.
We advise political parties to tame their cadres and advise them to desist from engaging in acts of political violence.
Further, we commend the Zambia Police Service for the swift response in bringing the culprits to book, as well as maintaining law and order in Kaoma.
Our appeal to all political parties taking part in these by-elections is for them to reign over their cadres and to allow voters to make informed, free and fair decision to vote for a candidate of their choice-one who will deliver their concerns to Central Government so that their concerns of development can be addressed.
We would also like to appeal to the Electoral Commission of Zambia(ECZ) to be equal to the task…if any party is found wanting in perpetrating violence, the Zambian election body should ban their candidate from taking part in this election.
