ARMED Police officers in Samfya district of Luapula Province have disrupted a rally addressed by opposition leader Harry Kalaba.
As the rally was taking place at Chiteta Grounds officers shot volleys of teargas and sent the small crowd scampering in all directions.
Kalaba was present at the rally when the chaos scenes began to unfold.
On arrival at the rally cite, Kalaba and his Democratic Party officials were greeted by the presence of armed police officers who advised them to call off the planned rally.
In defiance, the former foreign affairs minister and PF Bahati Constituency lawmaker went ahead to address the crowd forcing police to act.
It is not immediately clear if anyone has been injured or arrested.
