Govt to Pounce On Caders Who Extort Money From Transporters & Marketeers

Government has announced plans to swing into action before the close of business today to stop political party cadres from extorting money from transporters and Marketeers.

Addressing a stakeholders meeting in Lusaka this morning, local government minister Charles Banda disclosed that President Edgar Lungu has raised serious concern over the increasing illegalities in the markets and bus stations hence directing all the line ministries to put a stop to the vice.

Dr Banda observes with sadness that the operations of the councils across the country have fully been overtaken by unscrupulous individuals purporting to be political party cadres.

At the same event, Transport and Communications Minister Mutotwe Kafwaya appealed to the unions from the transport sector and Marketeers to help government in stopping the scourge.

Meanwhile, Home Affairs Minister Stephen kampyongo says the police will not spare anyone whether be individuals claiming to be from the ruling or opposition political party.
