Police in Mazabuka District of Southern Province have arrested three suspects for allegedly raping a 17 year old girl of Chikankata area on 03rd November 2019.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo has told phoenix news that the suspects who were on the run were apprehended the following day and are detained in police custody.

Ms Katongo says the suspects have been identified as Tryed Ngandu, 22 years, Vice Munene, 19 and Mavuto Mitelembe, 17 years all of Hangoma village in chikankata.
She says the incident occurred on Sunday around 11:00hrs at Gumba area chief Hanjalika’s area Mazabuka.

Ms Katongo explains that the victim who was in the company of her two brothers aged 19 years and 10 years went to Gumba area to pick world fruits commonly known as Masuku, when they came across the three suspects who were armed with them an iron bar and sticks and threatened to kill anyone who was going to shout.
