Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) through its General Secretary, Adrian Kashala, have disclosed that they have received applications from over 40 coaches for the Zambia national team coach job.

FAZ last week advertised the national team coach role with UEFA Pro License one of the requirements set for applicants and Kashala revealed that there has been overwhelming response from foreign coaches with no local coach coming through thus far.

“We have received overwhelming response from the applicants and my email is almost getting full with over 40 sending their applications and we expect more” Kashala told ZNBC Sports.

“We are going to have a lot work to begin to look at the applications because we have received a big number of applications from various individuals most of them from abroad and we are yet to receive any from our locals” he said.

The Chipolopolo coaching role has been vacant since March, 2018 when Belgian Sven Vandenbroeck left after the expiry of his contract with Green Eagles Aggrey Chiyangi standing in.

FAZ were close to engaging Vaselin Jelusic back in August, to head the 2012 AFCON winners before government rejected the Serbian’s appointment and directed the association to advertise the post.

Meanwhile, some of the names reported to have applied for the $10,000 salary job include Scotsman Frank Nuttall as well as Brazilian Brito Baltemar, who previously was at FC Porto and Chelsea were he served in assistant coach capacities to renowned Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho.
