Kitwe DC Mr Binwell Mpundu Holding On To Donated Community Funds

Kitwe DC Mr Binwell Mpundu Holding On To Donated Community Funds

Good Afternoon,

I have serious concerns regarding the conduct of the Kitwe DC Mr Binwell Mpundu. BUKACA hosted the sponsored walk and fundraising dinner where well-wishers raised funds.  BUKACA is a charity that helps the underprivileged community of Buchi and Kamitondo in Kitwe. The organisation membership is mostly in Diaspora consisting of people who were brought up in these two poor communities. The main purpose of the fundraising dinner was to raise funds to restock Buchi library.  As you are already aware, he has done the same with the Chinese donation.

Mr Mpundu is holding onto funds that were donated during a fundraising event whose guest of honour was Tasila Lungu in June 2018, on this day it was requested that pledges were given to the DC  for easy accountability. The DC was to deposit the money in BUKACA bank account in Kitwe.   It is now 16 months he has failed to remit the funds.

We have been in communication with him over the months, and he has not paid the money back. He has K120 000. 00, which is supported to go-to, books for Africa to restock Buchi library. What he does when we ask him he gets talking then suddenly he will stop to engage. At some point, he even told us that he would transfer the money directly to books for Africa in the USA. We provided him with bank details to this day he has not done so.  During the past 16 months, we have written to him, have made several visits to his office where he has promised to transfer the money then suddenly he fails to do so.

I have attached pictures of him receiving pledges from the fundraising event. In the picture he was receiving K50 000.00 from Chyme a well-wisher.  We also have several correspondences with him regarding the remitting of the funds. Who should I speak to for the story to be published?  I think he is not the right person for his position.

How can he take money for poor people?  I am worried that Mr Mpundu seems to be hindering community progress when he is supposed to be in the forefront of promoting initiatives that are helping our poor people. In addition, the fact that he knew the president’s daughter was involved in the fundraising of fund that this has not eve deterred him from taking the money is a great worry.

We need Mr Binwell Mpundu to remit the money he is holding onto to books for Africa so that the underprivileged community can benefit from. Please note the event
