Stolen Copper Abandoned

POLICE in Kalulushi are looking for two unidentified drivers who allegedly abandoned two vehicles loaded with suspected stolen copper. Copperbelt Deputy Commissioner of Police Wamunyima Wamunyima said in an interview yesterday that the two drivers allegedly abandoned their vehicles and bolted after police officers who were patrolling Kalulushi asked them to stop.

He said upon checking the abandoned vehicles, the officers found 50 kilogrammes of burnt copper cables in both vehicles. Mr Wamunyima said police suspected that the copper was stolen and hence the reaction of the two drivers, who bolted and abandon their vehicles. “We have impounded the two vehicles carrying burnt copper cables. We are trying to locate the drivers, who ran away. We have started investigations and we are asking members of the public to assist with any information that can help us,” he said. He appealed to companies with missing copper cables to check with Kalulushi Police Station
