THE Lusaka High Court has convicted a 17-year-old boy of Lusaka for the murder of his friend back in April this year.
The juvenile is said to have stabbed Sebastian Lungu to death but blamed his actions on alcohol.
But Judge Annessi Bobo convicted the the juvenile saying the defence of intoxication was not sufficient because there was no medical statement produced in court to prove intoxication.
He was arrested and charged for murder after brawl at JCS bar in Lusaka on April 6,2019.
In her judgment, Judge Bobo said the prosecution proved its case beyond all reasonable doubt.
She said that video provided as evidence against the juvenile clearly showed that the convict was the one pursuing his victim for a fight but the late Lungu did not retaliate.
The judge also noted that the convict’s mental faculties were not disturbed even though he had been drinking.
He will be sentenced on January 14, 2020 when the court receives a report of age determination and a social welfare report.
