Only the President Can Declare a Curfew In Chingola – Chifuta

Ministry of Home Affairs Public Relations Officer Nephas Chifuta has corrected information reported by some media houses and social media that Minister of Home Affairs Stephen Kampyongo has declared a curfew in Chingola, arising from the security challenges being experienced.

Mr. Chifuta says the actual position is that the Minister did not declare a curfew as reported but however said the security institutions will enforce the Council by laws so that movements of people in the area is reduced.

He said that the by-laws include among others closing of bars at 22:00hrs.

Mr. Chifuta said that a curfew according to Zambian laws can only be declared by the Head of State adding that the Minister is alive to this.
