A 28-YEAR-OLD man of Nakonde is nursing injuries in hospital after his 17-yearold girlfriend stabbed him with a broken bottle after an argument. The incident happened on Saturday around 02:00 hours in Ntindi village in Chief Waitwika’s area. Muchinga Province Commissioner of Police Joel Njase said in an interview yesterday that Lucky Nkonde, 28, of Katozi village, sustained deep cuts on the chest and nose after he was stabbed by Carol Mulenga.
“Lucky Nkonde picked a quarrel with his girlfriend Carol Mulenga. It is reported that the dispute developed into a fight and in the process, she allegedly broke a bottle and used it to stab the victim,” he said. Mr Njase said Mr Nkonde reported the matter to Nakonde Police Post where he was issued with a medical report. He said Mr Nkonde is admitted to Nakonde Urban Clinic, while Carol has been charged with unlawful wounding and will appear in court soon. “Mr Nkonde’s condition is stable,” Mr Njase said. And a 16-year-old boy of Isoka is nursing wounds after his brother axed him for cutting down trees in the yard.
Mr Njase said the incident happened on Friday around 15:00 hours at Kasyema village in Chief Kafwimbi’s area. He named the boy as Tressford Sichinga, 16, while the suspect is Gershom Sichinga, 21. “The victim sustained a deep cut on the forehead and on the collarbone… an axe is alleged to have been used in the act,” Mr Njase said. Mr Njase said on the material day, Gershom went on a drinking spree, and when he came back home in a drunken state, he found his younger brother Tressford cutting down trees surrounding their premises. This angered Gershom who questioned his sibling why he cut the trees, and this led to an argument.
“In the process of this argument, it is believed that Gershom Sichinga charged towards his younger brother, grabbed the axe from him, and hacked him, causing him to sustain deep cuts on the forehead and the collarbone. The victim bled severely on both cuts,” he said. He said the victim is admitted to Isoka District Hospital. Mr Njase said no arrest has been made yet because the suspect ran away after hacking his brother. He said a manhunt has been launched for the suspect.
