Lungu fires Kitwe DC

PRESIDENT Lungu has fired Kitwe District Commissioner Binwell Mpundu.

Chileshe Bweupe has been appointed as Mpundu’s replacement

Mpundu announced his dismissal in Facebook posting after three years of holding the position.

“I wish to take this opportunity to now officially announce to you my family and friends that the speculations about my future as DC Kitwe are now over as my contract which ended on 10th February 2020 has now not been renewed and this therefore means am officially out of contracts as DC Kitwe,” he said.

“I therefore wish to take this opportunity to thank His Exellency The Republican President Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu for the opportunity given to me as a young man and a novice in public service to serve in his govt.”

    But, of all the Govt workers that include politicians and civil servants, should it take the whole of the Republican President to Appoint and Disappoint civil servants, such is Permanent Secretaries and District Commissioners? Where is the Civil Service Commission? This arrangement no doubt gives too much power to the Head of State and Government, the President! Can our leaders learn cede power to the lower organs of the echelons of the Sovereignty?
