Police in Nchelenge district, Luapula province have arrested 3 family members for allegedly causing the death of their mother.

Luapula province police Commissioner Elias Chushi has confirmed that Catherine Pule 86, was on February 28th, 2020 in Chief Kambwali’s area in Nchelenge district dragged to a witch finder who forcefully administered a dosage of poisonous herbs and was later escorted back to her house where she died two hours later.

The three family members namely Levy Kabwe 65, Vera Chongo 63 and Simon Nshikolola 20, secretly buried the body of their mother without a coffin near Nchelenge airstrip.

But some members of the public tipped police and showed them the grave.

Meanwhile, the witch finder and the other family members are on the run.

Police have disclosed that the suspects will be jointly charged with murder and will appear in court soon.
