‘She called criminals to kill me’

A THIRTY-FOUR-YEAROLD man of Chaisa has run away from his home after his wife allegedly threatened to send some people to kill him following a marital dispute. Emmanuel Musa told the Matero local court that he left his matrimonial home for fear of losing his life. He was testifying in a matter in which he was sued for marriage reconciliation by Harriet Musa, 30. Emmanuel told the court that problems in his marriage started in 2019 when Harriet tore his clothes and all his sister’s photos.

“She started suspecting me of having a girlfriend. Later she packed her clothes and went to her parents without giving me reasons. After some days, she came to insult me and went back,” he said. Emmanuel said Harriet has been accusing him of sleeping with female workers every time he goes to the farm to visit. He told the court that the couple’s family came together and reconciled them. “When we quarrelled last month, my wife started saying some people are looking for me and will kill me when they find me.

This forced me to pack my household goods and leave,” Emmanuel said. In his submissions, he told the court that he loves his wife and appealed to the court to counsel her. But Harriet told the court that problems in her marriage started in February when Emmanuel threw her things outside the house. She said: “He told me to leave his house and go to my parents, he said our marriage was over.”

Harriet said Emmanuel chased her when she did not go to her parents saying he is already married. She refuted Emmanuel’s allegation that she sent people to kill him. Magistrate Miyanda Banda adjourned the matter to a later date
