Agriculture Minister, Michael Katambo has assured fertiliser suppliers that government is putting measures in place to ensure smooth importation of farm inputs into the country.
Mr. Katambo says it is gratifying that the five fertiliser suppliers, contracted under the FISP, have already stocked about 80 percent of D-Compound and 50 percent of Urea of the commodity.
He says the ministry is working with other government agencies to address the concerns that fertiliser suppliers have raised regarding the slow movement and delays experienced in transporting fertiliser.
Mr. Katambo has assured the farming community of a guaranteed steady supply of agricultural inputs for the 2020/2021 farming season.
The Minister was speaking in Lusaka when he undertook a monitoring visit to some contracted fertiliser suppliers.
And Nyimba Investments Head of Sales and Marketing, Willings Mulendema says the company has stocked 60-thousand tonnes of fertiliser in the country.
Meanwhile, Export Trading Group Managing Director, Rajendran Ganapathi says the company has already stocked about 80 percent of 55-thousand tonnes of D-Compound and Urea.
