THIEVES in Kafue have started targeting companies and Government institutions as more people continue working from home in the wake of COVID-19. Kafue District Commissioner Joseph Kamana said in six days, thieves have broken into two schools, a District Education Board Secretary’s (DEBS) office, a clinic and one private institution.
The local police in the district also confirmed the incidents in an interview yesterday. “Thieves have now taken advantage of coronavirus and are now breaking into institutions and stealing property because they know that most workers now operate from their homes,” Mr Kamana said. Mr Kamana said on Monday around 08:00 hours, thieves broke into the DEBS office and stole property.
