EXPERTS INVESTIGATING FOR CORONAVIRUS IN CHOMA MAN WHO DIED THIS TUESDAY MORNING

Health experts are investigating for Coronavirus in the death of a 52 year old resident of Choma who died in the University Teaching Hospital, (UTH) Tuesday.

Health Minister, Chitalu Chilufya has revealed that the man was a known asthmatic patient who fell ill last week and was treated at a health facility in Choma after a diagnosis of Malaria.

Chilufya says his condition worsened and he travelled for treatment at a private clinic in Lusaka before he was referred to the UTH where he died upon arrival at the Emergency section of the hospital.

He explains that samples have been collected for further investigation into his death, including for Coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Chilufya has disclosed that Zambia has recorded five new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 70.

He has said all cases involve frontline health staff at Levy Mwanawasa Teaching Hospital.
