South MPs Disappoint Hamukale

Southern Province Minister Edify Hamukale has expressed disappointment with 14 Members of Parliament in the region, who have not yet collected COVID-19 Personal Protective Equipment, PPEs, allocated to their constituencies.

Dr. Hamukale has revealed that only four out of the 18 MPs in the Southern Province have collected the PPEs to be distributed to people in their constituencies .

The minister has named the MPs, who have collected the PPEs as Malungo Chisangano for Gwembe, Jack Mwiimbu for Monze Central, Mutinta Mazoka for Pemba and Darius Mulunda for Siavonga Darius Mulunda.

He says the lawmakers have exhibited willingness to work with the Government in the fight against the COVID-19.

Dr. Hamukale said in Livingstone today that if the 14 MPs fail to collect the PPEs within four days he will distribute them to councils and District Commissioners in the Southern Province to be distributed to the people.

He called on the people of Southern Province to demand for accountability from their MPs to ensure that they are protected from the COVID-19.

He said while the Government has provided the PPEs, the majority of the MPs in the Southern Province have not collected the equipment to help prevent COVID-19 in their respective constituencies.

He was speaking when he donated face masks, hand washing buckets and disinfectants at Libuyu Market in Livingstone.

And Libuyu Market Committee Chairperson Alick Sikato thanked the Government for providing the PPEs to the market.

Mr. Sikato also encouraged people to respect those in authority because failure to do so is against God who ordains leaders.
