United Party for National Development, (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema says his party is ready to take over government in 2021.
Hichilema says the UPND has been preparing to lead the nation for many years and understands what it takes to redeem the country from its economic challenges.
The opposition has been on the waiting list for over 20 years, but Hichilema says the party is resolved now more than ever to govern after winning the 2021 General Election.
Byta FM monitored his live interview with Mufulira’s Mafken FM Friday afternoon.
Hichilema assured the mining community that his party will ensure they own the mineral resource.
HOWEVER…! Hichilema’s telephone interview was interrupted after a power cut minutes into the programme in unexplained circumstances.
Later, suspected Patriotic Front cadres were repelled after they attempted to storm the radio station to interrupt the radio programme.
Several are feared injured, but authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the incident.
