Solwezi East Member of Parliament Leaky Kintu, is thrilled with the progress of the water and sanitation project in the constituency.
However, Mr Kintu is worried that accessibility to water supply in rural communities remain a challenge, the situation that is hindering the completion of water and sanitation projects.
And the law-maker unveiled new projects in his five- year mandate to be carried out this year once they have been approved under the Constituency Development Fund(CDF).
Mr Kintu, with the help of the community has embarked on water and sanitation projects, upgrading and building boreholes in various parts of the Constituency.
He cited the upgrading of borehole from hand pump to submersible with tanks at Lamba Secondary School in Kalilele ward.
Mr Kintu further cited the drilling of boreholes at Kishela Community, Muyaya Community and Musaka Primary School in Mulonga and Musaka wards respectively.
Meanwhile, Mr Kintu said new projects to start this year waiting approval includes, construction of 1 X 3 Class Room Blocks at Kakema Primary School and Yowela Primary School Mapunga and Musaka wards respectively.
In addition to that, the Solwezi East Member of Parliament wants the rehabilitation of 1 X 3 classroom blocks at Kalomboshi Primary School and Mututubanya Primary School in Majimanzovu and Kikola wards respectively.
“We want to construct a Maternity ward at Luamala Rural Health Centre in Mulonga ward and build Kulu Bridge in Kangwena ward,” he said.
Mr Kintu stated that the construction of Mulalashi Bridge in Kikola ward and mounting of a borehole in Mishingwa Community of Kangwena ward is vital.
And Mr Kintu said a number of clubs have emerged under his tenure which have received a share of the Constituency Development Fund.
“Kalilele Farming Youth Club has been beefed with a gardening project in Kalilele ward, Kasamfu Women’s Club have embarked on a hammer mill project in Musaka ward and Mututubanya Women’s Club is doing a Hammer mill Project in Kikola ward.
He said the Sendeki co-operative has been empowered with a Poultry Farming Project in Mapunga ward, the same gesture given to
Mapesho Women’s Club in Mulonga Ward.
He added that the construction of a borehole in Kibombomene in Kalilele ward is on the cards.
