Scores of ex miners in Mufulira District have staged a peaceful protest at Mopani Copper Mines MCM General offices.
The irate ex miners who were indirectly employed by MCM are demanding for the immediate payment of their outstanding ex gratia allowances.
The former miners have vowed not to leave MCM premises until their outstanding allowances that have been offered to them as a good will gesture by the mine are paid in full.
Conflicting reports have emerged over the payment of the ex gratia allowances with unions in the extractive sector insisting that some ex miners started receiving their outstanding money a week ago.
Group leader of the ex miners Haggai Bunda said none of the over seven thousand affected former miners have so far been paid the said allowance.
Police have since sealed off MCM General Offices in Mufulira.
