MUCHINGA Province deputy Commissioner of Police Geoffrey Kunda has advised people who are involved in mobile money operations to be cautious and seek police protection when managing huge sums of money. Kunda’s concern come in the wake criminals in Chinsali shooting a
26-year-old mobile money operator and robbing him off K58,000. in Chinsali is in hospital nursing bullet wounds inflicted in an attack by criminals who stole K58,000 from him.
Musowe Mate, of Kabuta village, was allegedly shot by criminals, who trailed him to his employer’s house, where he was to deliver the money.
The Muchinga Province Police boss has been quoted by the Zambia Daily Mail saying Mate sustained wounds on the pelvis and is admitted to Chinsali General Hospital.
“The victim had just knocked off from the Airtel money booth and was on his way to hand over the money to his employer when he was attacked,” Kunda told the Daily Mail.
Kunda further said efforts were being made to arrest the criminals. He also advised people who are involved in mobile money operations to be cautious and seek police protection when managing huge sums of money.
