Statement On The Newly Launched Mobile National Registration

Zambian DNA welcomed the newly launched Mobile National Registration Cards (NRCs) phase one in Luapula, Northern, Eastern, Copperbelt and North-western Provinces.

However, we are greatly disturbed by some opposition Members of Parliament and in an alliance with some civil society organizations’ attempt to monitor the recently launched mobile National Registration Cards exercise.

We expect them to understand that it’s the mandate of the Ministry of Home Affairs, under the Department of National Registration Passport and Citizenship to conduct such an exercise, and as such they do not need external monitoring groups in order for them to carry out their work smoothly.

We are appealing to the parents and guardians country wide to utilize this opportunity by ensuring that their children who are aged sixteen and above obtain their NRCs during this mobile registration exercise as it’s a critical national identify document.
