Statement On UPND’s Lack Of Respect For Women

September 4, 2020

It’s extremely unfortunate that UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema chose to attack FDD leader Edith Nawakwi’s character instead of responding to the questions on the role he played in the privatization of State-enterprises.

Hichilema and other UPND leaders, including his surrogates have no respect for women as evidenced by the way they poured scorn, ridicule and contempt on Madam Nawakwi.

This is not the first time UPND leaders have hurled insults and disrespected Madam Nawakwi and other women, they have also verbally attacked her when she raised similar issues few years ago.

Not long while ago, Republican Vice-President Madam Inonge Wina was disrespected and ridiculed with the utmost contempt by a senior UPND leader and lawmaker in Parliament.

More so, Information and Broadcasting Services Minister Dora Siliysa was once a victim of UPND’s attacks on women as she also suffered from their harassment.

There are also other prominent women in our society who have been harassed by the UPND cadres.

Indeed, opposition UPND leaders do not have respect for women and their rights, and if given chance to govern the country they will kill the women movement as they have no respect for women rights.

We advise women in the UPND leadership to realize that they are working with men who have no respect for their rights.

They just want to use them as ‘political door -mats.’

In view of the foregoing, we urge Zambians not to be swayed by UPND’s emotional appeal to them as they have no respect for anyone.
