Traditional Leaders Should Work With Govt

Zambian DNA is elated with President Edgar Lungu’s call on traditional leaders to work with Government in delivering the much-needed development in their respective chiefdoms.

We are also delighted with President Lungu’s tacit commitment to take development to all parts of the country by not only his continued tour of duty to check on developmental  projects, his able leadership to ensure each of the country’s ten Provinces gets it’s equal share of development, but also for making time out of his busy schedule to visit and interact with traditional leaders in his quest to trigger trickle-down social and economic benefits of his development agenda to all citizens regardless of their political or religious affiliation.

However, we have noted with dismay how some elected opposition Members of Parliament have betrayed the people who sent them to Parliament to represent their interests by refusing to work with Government in delivering the much- needed development in their respective constituencies.

Further, traditional leaders are also strategically placed in particular social setting to work with Government in delivering the much-needed development in their respective chiefdoms.

But it’s sad to note how some traditional leaders have taken a partisan stance in an alliance with the said elected representatives instead of engaging them on how to work with Government in fostering development in their respective areas.

It’s for this reason we advise traditional leaders to engage their elected representatives on how to work with Government in delivering the much-needed development in their respective chiefdoms.
