Statement On Political Violence Perpetrated By Party Cadres

October 16, 2020

Political violence perpetrated by cadres should be condemned in the strongest terms by all well-meaning Zambians as it holds the potential to disrupt peace and unity in the country.

Political cadres’ attempt to attack law-enforcement officers in the broad day light or take the law into their own hands is seemingly a situation that is degenerating into anarchy.

It’s for this reason we are now urging both the ruling and opposition party leaders to tame their cadres from engaging in any acts of violence.

We also advise opposition leaders to emulate President Edgar Lungu who often condemns political violence in the country at all times and at every fora.

Equally, we expect the Police to be firm in their quest to maintain law and order  so as to safeguard their lives and those they are mandated to protect by remaining extra vigilant.

Moreover, we are appealing to the Police High Command to ensure that they bring the culprits to book so as to send a strong message to would-be perpetrators of violence.
