As Battle Cry for Zambia(BCZ), a faith based organization, we strongly condemn tribal remarks being peddled by both the ruling Patriotic Front(PF) and opposition United Party for National Development(UPND)leaders ahead of the forthcoming General Elections.
The careless tribal remarks have potential to prunge the country into total chaos and can bring instability that could lead to political turmoil we have never experienced before.
Memories of the mass slaughter of Tutsi, Twa, and moderate Hutu in Rwanda, (also known as Ruanda), which took place between 7 April and 15 July 1994 during the Rwandan Civil War are still fresh and we certainly can’t afford to go that route.
As politicians, you have responsibility to unite and not divide the country on ethinic ground as it does not conform to Christian Nation principles and values.
God hates tribalism and He calls us to love our neighbors and do good to them at all times but because of our selfish political ambitions, we have chosen to go the path of distraction, attacking each other on tribal grounds.
…for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and are justified by his grace as gift through the redemption that is in the Lord Jesus Christ, Roman 3: 23-24,
…and might reconcile as to God in one body through the cross theirby killing the hostility, Ephesians 2:16 …But you are a chosen race, a loyal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness to the marvelous light, 1 Peter 2:9.
We are not going to single out any politician found wanting for issuing tribal remark but it is our prayer that politicians focus on issue based politics and not promoting hate speech and tribalism ahead of the forthcoming election.
As founder of Cry for Better, I want to urge all believers and the Church to continue praying for Peace Unity and Love among us and let us continue to embrace the One Zambia One nation motto.
