STATEMENT ON THE CONTINUED ATTACKS ON PRESIDENT LUNGU

ZAMBIAN DNA has noted with great concern how some section of society have grossily abused the freedom of expression and the media by using crude language against the Republican President and other Government officials.

Whilst Zambians enjoy the freedom of expression, it’s unacceptable for anyone to use vulgar language when expressing a point of view or venting out anger on national leaders or elderly people in our African society.

However,we are surprised that the Clergy,so-called human rights activists and those given the mandate to defend the Office of the Republican President and the person who occupies it as well as our national values are silent on the continuous attacks on the Head of State and other Government officials by some section of society who are in an alliance with some media outlets hostile to Government.

We expect those who have continued to hurl insults at President Edgar Lungu and other Government officials to desist from doing so because defamation ot the Presudent is a criminal offence as the said leaders deserve respect.
