FORMER SEX WORKER SPEAKS OUT

By SAMUEL KHWAWE
A 39 year old woman of Chipata District has testified how she stopped sex work and started other business ventures which have transformed her social and economic life.
Ethel Chunga of Referendum Township says she was a staunch Sex worker and used to move in different countries to earn a living and feed her family.
Ms. Chunga says the Sexual Reproductive Health Rights, HIV Knows No Borders Project, with support from the International Organization for Migration helped her transform.
She says her body was the home of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STIs) and abortion was the usual thing, which she said it is now the thing of the past.
She says IOM linked her to Youth Empowerment programme where she benefited K850 and started business of selling maize bran.
And International for Migration Chief of Mission Nomagugu Ncube says the project has reached about 100, 000 beneficiaries with SRH and HIV education.
