STATE House is under pressure to rebut the alleged human rights abuses as stated by the Our Civic Duty Association (OCIDA) in its petition to the American Government.

OCIDA through its leadership has written a harded headed letter to the American government asking them to put sanctions against President Hakainde Hichilema, Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security, Jack Mwiimbu, Chief Justice Mumba Malila, Speaker of the National Assembly, Nelly Mutti and Police Inspector General, Graphael Musamba for what they call abuse of the rule of law.

Among the sanctions OCIDA want imposed on President Hichilema, Speaker Mutti, Musamba, Malila and Mwiimbu is to stop funding Zambia and travel ban to the USA.

However, State House has organised individuals within OCIDA to hold a press briefing tomorrow to denounce organisation chairperson Archbishop Telesphore Mpundu and accuse him of creating anarchy in the nation among other things.

According to sources, a Simwinji and Ndila are the ones spearheading the briefing scheduled to denounce Archbishop Mpundu and others.

“It’s hot at State House, so they have picked the weak souls in OCIDA and most of those are from a particular region and their job is to denounce a collective observations made in that letter Bashikulu ba Archbishop Mpundu presented on behalf of the organisation.

However, we are not shocked about this development because some of us close to what is happening now know what these people (State House) are after. In fact there was a pensing arrest of Archbishop Mpundu but they are scared to do it. So now they want to use these weak souls to create confusion in OCIDA and make them rebel against that man of God. The call by OCIDA is so atrong that State House is not sleeping. State House is aware of these allegations and its just that these people are stubborn and they want to fix people from a particular region,” the source said.

The source said if Zambians will not stand up and speak against undemocratic tendencies under the UPND regime, all the effort made in the last 59 years to restore good governance ans independence will come to an end.

“The appeal to Zambians is clear and Zambians should wake up and see things as they are. We are in trouble and if we cannot do the right thing now, we are doomed, ” the source stated.
