PF Pledges To Restore ZNBC’s Lost Respect And Credibility

The ruling Patriotic Front (PF) party has observed that there has been lack of competence in implementing the laws which stipulate that ZNBC should be run as a public service broadcaster.
PF chairman for mobilization and strategy Charles Banda has told Qfm radio station that lack of unprofessionalism by the ZNBC especially during the campaign period has caused the media institution to loose its credibility.
Mr. Banda noted that it is sad to see how people do not want to associate themselves with ZNBC adding that the media house had lamentably failed to give quality information to the public during the reign of the MMD.
He has however, noted that his party will ensure that laws that state that ZNBC be managed as a public service broadcaster are fully implemented to the satisfaction and benefit of all Zambians with divergent views.

znbc really requires a face-lift . We are often told, its our national broadcaster, and yet their quality signal does not exceed kafue or chongwe town. I hope we won’t be seeing or hearing unnecessary political appeasing .

ZNBC HAS ALWAYS SERVED THE PARTY AND ITS GOVT(PIG). EVEN SATA ABUSED IT WHEN CHARLSE BANDA AND KAPEYA WERE EMPLOYEES. THIS DID NOT START WITH RB!

GO AHEAD AND SHOW US HOW BETTER YOU CAN TRANSFORM IT. WE ARE WATCHING YOU KEENLY AND HAVE STARTED COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS.

Count as much as you want. It’s 365 days x 5 years mudala. Kaili MMD will go into oblivion for another 20 years just like UNIP is in limbo. PF just take it easy and don’t be rushed. Do a good job, the country is in disarray. It requires level heads to transform and make it run as country once again.

ZNBC has always been for the party and it’s government but under RB it was too much. We saw the emergency of Chanda Chimba, the singing of RB whenever you attempt to listen to news. Infact this led me to detest him than his ruling style.

True, we need the fair & balanced coverage of both ruling & opposition parties so tht we feel the need to continue paying tv levy. I hope pf govt will listen to its people & grant licences to our private radio and tv stations to extend their coverage areas like phoenix, QFM, HOTFM, Joy FM, 5FM, SKYFM, Muvi TV, MOBI TV jst 2 mention bt a few so tht they re used 2 carry development news to our people in country sides.

Pedro you are spot on. Just to amplify what Pedro has said, avoid CRC or the rubbished NCC. I propose we focus on the creating synergies using the Mvunga, Mwanakatwe and Mun’gomba recommendations. It will be less costly. BRAVO PF.

PF I trust you, let us transform ZNBC, Times and Daily Mail so that President Micheal Chilufya Sata is not cheated the way RB was deceived.
ZNBC at the moment appears to be lost and out of touch. It also calls for employing new casters as those already working there are hated and it is better they are put in the background for sometime for wounds they caused to the nation to heal.
Go PF go for biased reporting which is going to direct you where the lopholes are going to be for you to develop the nation positively. Please do not behave like selfish RB who took control of ZNBC, Times and Daily Mail.

The problem may not be political interference at znbc, so it seems but just the sheer ineptness of the staff there. IT SEEMS THEY HAVE GOTTEN USED TO BEING BRIBED BY POLITICIANS! For once they should have taken advantage of this period to begin to show the new government and of course the owners, THE PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA, what they can do and just how they themselves think they ought to operate. What we are seeing now is still the same old appeasement kind of reporting, SATA, SATA, SATA…..PF, PF, PF, PF…Yes we know He is President and PF is govt now and we already know a lot about him and PF from the post newspaper and tumfweko. Its only you and the mmd that need a debrief on PF and Sata.
These goons are plain baser journalists period! Can we for once get divergent views on that prehistoric station?! For starters you can show us what is happening on the opposition side; what messages the presidents have for their people; their way forwards…etc, or whatever you learnt in school constitutes news…(on a lighter note you can even show us what opinionated chisusu dora siliya is up to now).
There’s just a lot of things you can report on other than just telling us which chief has congratulated H.E. Micheal Chilufya Sata like as if you have a checklist of chiefs you are monitoring and at the end of the day you have to give a report that chief so and so did not congratulate you Mr. President. It sucks! Let those congratulatory messages be in the print media!
Overtime, znbc staffers have become VERY INCOMPETENT. It seems there is a serious lack of innovativeness and the faster we get rid of it the better. We have a lot of fresh and experienced talent in private media houses that would jump at the opportunity of revitalising this archaic station. Now that there is a change of government all of us want to be kept abreast with the happenings in the country so we can make informed contributions to the change process.
I really liked what Bob Sichinga on Saturday morning told one female “znbc star”(thats what they call themselves am told). he said it plainly “as znbc you have to change your image out there. people dont watch znbc because of your unprofessionalism”. Like most zambians who have gotten used to the flair of western journalists we have been forced to watch every day, watching this particular one yesterday morning I was like ‘ atase aka kantu, akabula no kutekanya pa kwipusha amepusho!’.
You morons, first of all show us what you are capable of doing on your own so people can adequately vouch for you!

Immediately Sata was sworn in as president i became so anxious and could not hold my patience and peace waiting for the 19hrs news on Znbc just to hear how it was going to broadcast the once demonised person Sata. For the first time i did this since Rupiahs regime. Again for the first time have i bought three papers in a row, Post, Times and Daily mail. The news from Znbc, Times and Daily mail was obvious. Now we will see how professional they will become to clear their names

My brother Enock Samakupa lets not expect so much from these incorrigible. True most of us were eager to see what the three despicable media houses would come up with that day. for the time in this modern cyber world i visited znbc, times of zambia and zambia daily mail sites all because i was curious. there was nothing! maybe they were deleting all the rb shit.
The bottom line is we dont expect so much change at these institutions for as long as these spineless quack journalists continue operating from there. They have long forgotten about professionalism. All they know is “you bribes me and you gets on air canonised”

I think i agree with most of the previous contributers on this issue..but i for one think that we do not need a state media..Governmanet does not need to be running news papers and TV stations at all. They just need to restrict themselvesto a regulatory role…Sale ZNBC,the Daily mail and the Times..float their shares so that we truly become part owners to these institutions. This will give them Editorial freedom. We can read about government business n the Government Gazette. We don t need a public media proping up the party in power…am afraid something drastic has to happen for change to be seen…

    ZNBC,

Zambia National Blind Correspondents! They couldn’t even read the mood of the country! On 22/09/2011 during ZNBC evenning main news when PF was leading after 116 constituencies counted, ZNBC reported only on the 4 MMD Ministers who had retained their National Assembly seats! During PF President’s inauguration, the feamle ZNBc reporter on TVZ, repeatedly could the President Elect “The King Cobra”! The best is to decalre all posts Vacant and open them to the Public

I grew up watching ZBS and then ZNBC. The station cost a collosal K44 million Kwacha in 1980′s money (US$3million). It was the most advanced and could broadcast to the entire SADC region if adapted with repeater stations. The coverage of National events is currently reduced to Political events or events involvingPoliticians! When we were young we had all the latest Global Televison series & soaps such as Wonder Woman, Dallas, Falcon Crest, Knotts Landing, The Colbys, Flintsones Cartoon, Birdman cartoon. We were also kept abreast of International events by the Roving Report from ITN.

Locally we had the Sunday Interview, we had on Tuesday & Thursday Focus on the Copperbelt. A cuurent affairs programme covering the Nothern region of Zambia from Solwezi to Kasama. We had locally produced programmes like Police and You, For the Farmer, Play for Today, Take Your Pick, Mr & Mrs and so on. We should not have moved away and gone to DSTV.

They need a complete overhaul for them to get us to drop our DSTV subscription and stop enriching those South Africans! We are A Great Nation with tremendous potential but too many half baked people are controlling this country! ZNBC adapt or die!
