SATA Dissolves Entire Road Development Agency (RDA)

Republican President Michael Sata has with immediate effect dissolved the entire Road Development Agency (RDA) as it has failed in its operations.
President Sata said he has dissolved RDA because it has been revealed that the agency has been offering road construction contracts without tenders.
The head of state was speaking when he swore in former task force on corruption chairperson Max Nkole as Home Affairs Permanent Secretary (PS) on Tuesday morning at state house.
Meanwhile, the President also called on the Police to work towards ensuring they sweep out corruption in the country.
President Sata also pledged to reintroduce medical services for all law enforcement and defense personnel in the country that is Zambia Police, Zambia Air Force, Zambia Army, and Zambia National Service to boost their morale as they offer their services to the nation.
The head of state further instructed the ministry of justice to repeal the pensions and ensure the public service retirement age is revised.

65 is not bad just start asking people around and you will notice that after all, its not a bad retiring age. Look AT THE MAN HIMSELF he is 74 but so far performing, first by forming a winning party when he was 64 ten years ago and then winning the elections, so far some sanity is finally coming to Zambia. We will be coming back to Zambia soon

Good work. Retirement age requires discussion. If they want to increase the age, let them leave the early retirement option at 55.

The retirement package in Zambia is rubbish. The People in developed countries who retire at 65 have a package they can live on for the rest of their lives. They don’t have to worry about anything.

First revise the package before you touch the years. What this means is that when you decide to go early, you don’t get full benefits and tax incentives.

At 55 even if you get a poor package, you still have enough strength to make ends meet and time to carve out a living for yourself.

So you decide to wait until you are finished (physical strength gone at 65) so that you can get your full package. Say you are blessed to live for another 20 years. Wait, you have been too busy working and you have not established your self? So what? I see a crocodile in the river. I won’t step in. Its good for the country but very bad for individuals retiring (really tire) in a finished condition. We don’t want to be burying retiree everyday.

The entire road network in this conury is pathetic. we can not compare ourselves with the likes of southafrica. The new government should ensure that the TOLLGATE law is passed in parliament. This is the only way that the roads can be properly maintained!!!

Ladies and Gentlemen of the land, surely what is our life expectant as Africans or Zambians in particular? Are you telling me that a person in his/her fifties is able to work and deliver effectively? I don’t think so and therefore I feel the proposal of extending the retirement age is not right. If anything it was supposed to be reduced to between 45 and 50 yrs. Let people retire when they are still energetic enough to do something else after work.

Imwe ba fikala its not RDA that has been dissolved even though that’s what Sata had initially intended. Sata was later advised correctly that the whole agency can only be dissolved by parliament since it was created by an act of parliament. He has now “corrected” the dissolution order as affecting only the Board of Directors. Too quick to pull the trigger without following the constitution. That’s strike # 2 Mr. President!

There is nothing wrong for the govt to revise the retirement age. If people feel they can work beyond the age of 55 then govt can put in place certain conditions to allow energetic people to continue working. As a matter of fact some developed countries are revising the retirement age fro 65 to 70,etc.

Retirement age should be left at 55 years;or it becomes optional for those we feel like working thereafter.
