SATA FIRES His Minister?

PRESIDENT Michael Sata has sacked North Western Province Deputy Minister Josephine Limata in preference to MMD Solwezi West constituency Member of Parliament Richard Taima. And 22 MMD Members of Parliament (MPs) plan to defect to the ruling Patriotic Front (PF).The MPs said they have decided to risk their chances with the Patriotic Front because they feel their party had neglected them But State House Press Analyst Amos Chanda denied that Ms Limata had been fired as no such information had been availed to him over the reported sacking of the deputy minister. According to impeccable sources from both the MMD and the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) leadership, Mrs. Limata had been dismissed in order to pave way for a stronger Kaonde person to lead the province. “Mrs Limata is one of the MMD MPs who decided to accept the appointments but this time round President Sata has changed his mind and promised to appoint Ms Taima as the new deputy minister for the province,” the source said.
The source said currently Mr. Taima together with his Mufumbwe counterpart Steven Masumba were in the province looking at ways to convince the people of North Western to work with the PF government which they had rejected. The source said Mr. Taima together with Mr. Masumba were among the MMD members who had on several occasions voted against the party resolution on various issues of national important. But when contacted for a comment, Taima said he was not aware about the appointment and was in his constituency for a round up. And the MMD MPs who sought anonymity for fear of intimidation accused the party of not taking care of their affairs for reasons that were unclear.
They said that most of the parliamentary seats in the party are being petitioned and that the party’s senior officials have shown unwillingness to assist them fight the petitioned seats.
They said the party had agreed to pay their legal fees and had provided three lawyers to take up their cases, but those lawyers were not being paid. According to the members of parliament the lawyers namely Sunday Nkonde, Sakwiba Sikota and Erick Silwamba gave different conditions to the MPs. “When the patriotic front decided to petition our seats, the party’s senior officials held a meeting with us and promised to help us with the legal fees and we were asked to surrender our vehicles so that the party could raise some money by auctioning them,” the MPs said. The MPs said they could not cope with the legal fees that their lawyers are asking from them because they were too high more especially that the monies are coming from their own pockets. They said this was a party issue and they accused the party of neglecting them saying their lawyers were asking for more than what they could afford. The lawyers are said to be asking for more than a K100 million from each MP.
“We are spending too much money from our own pockets. We can not go beyond what we have spent so far and we want the party to tell us the way forward. Those members who are well established are opting to go for the expensive lawyer but some of us can only afford less than a hundred million,” one MP said. They said they are considering trading their stakes with the PF so that they might be exempted from nullification. But when contacted for a clarification MMD Deputy National Secretary Chembe Nyangu expressed ignorance on the issue. He said the party had not paid any lawyer on behalf of the petitioned members because there was no money for such expenditure.

The more you read and observe the politics in Zambia, you will agree with me that each party is worse than the other. The one that is out of power always looks to be the best. UNIP was considered better than MMD and MMD is now being considered as having done better than PF. We dont know how PF will be rated after being succeeded by UPND.

So this old man has nothing better to do with his life apart from looking for who to fire. We need to be hearing serious things affecting our nation not diverting attention to hiring & firing. Its lyk som pipo have been fed kolyo kolyo by this old & will start posting shitty comments in support of this. So many promises were made during his election campaign but he is not honouring them instead he is driving pipoz attention to useless things… What selfish leaders we have in Zambia.

POLITICS IS NOT ABOUT PRINCIPLES IN ZAMBIA. BUT WHATS THERE FOR YOU. IF THESE PEOPLE PLANNING TO DEFECT REALLY BELIEVED IN MMD MANIFESTO, LIKE IT IS IN THE WESTERN WORLD, THEY WOULDN’T HAVE BEEN CHANGING POLITICAL PARTIES LIKE PROSTITUTES DO CHANGE CLIENTS.

Dont blame sata; blame MPs who have reduced themselves to saleable items. Surely if 22 MMD MPs defect to PF that will be 22 expensive bye elections using money that could be better spent on development activities. Wen is this country goiing to move away from politiking to actually being development oriented! Even if u are a pf supporter, 22 bye elections wont put more money in yo pocket (unless u work for ECZ). The new constitution shud address the issue of political prostitution and political theft. It shud also reduce the powers of a president

@ Luwingu province and Political analyst you see how confused you look like,,,by now you should have seen some scence in what am talking about. but your thinking has been has been obsecured by your love and heart for Satana. Why the 90 days? Where you not in Zambia when Michael Satana was promising all these. Am dissapointed by your level of interlectualism in you. As I am writing this the Dollar is k5200 meaning the value of the Kwacha has dropped in this Satana Era ofcourse you might not feel it as you can even afford internet but your fellow Zambians cant even afford Kapenta. Check your style of thinking then you might be my level.

Sata has been in power for about three months now. He has made a number of mistakes and he has also done right things as a president

    1. My advise to those critising Sata, including myself, is to positively critise him so that, together we can build a better Zambia. Finding faults in him will not help because there is nothing much we can do as he is our preisdent until 2016.

    2. My advise to those supporting him, including myself, is to support with with maturity to help him be a better president. Do not insult your fellow bloggers because they have a different view from yours

    3. My advise to those critising every story from the blog, is to look at the positive side of things. They are working to bring you stories but it’s always about “why this story or that story”

    4. My advise to Tumfweko is, please improve your grammar. Sometimes your statements are misleading.

You have all the right to campaign for your party and its leader but do it wisely because lies and affronts will just worsen your declining political fortunes, mind you there are people like bo Milupi, Chipomo coming up. You dont secure votes by antagonising would be voters please, you maybe intelligent hardworking farme … sorry I mean people but lack wisdom. God bless Zambia.

MMD MPs Kindly take note that today you can enjoy the appointment from the party and the president you never wanted in the first position. If you defect to PF today, what happens tomorrow when the same Sata fires you? That I CAN ASSURE YOU WILL BE THE END OF YOUR political career as the all idea is to finish MMD.

Think and look ahead. You will be disappointed one day.

Wizard, am fighting the urge to insult u. Am trying to make a difference on this blog so i wil not insult. U insulted the kateka so u shud know why pipo are reacting. U’ve brought it upon yourself. Firstly, a change of government in any country attracts to its currency what may be known as ”vagaries of transition”. Where a currency experiences a sharp drop in value due to change of gvt. It happened to obama, and when gordon brown left. Its normal. One of sata’s measures which wil make a difference, is, he instructed new boz gov gondwe to ensure that all exports earnings are receipted and closely monitored at boz also that the mines shud receive their sales revenue thru local banks and not overseas transactions which dont envolve zambia. Two. Govnmt is committed to enacting freedom of information bill. Lubinda has already given a timeline. He has invited all media houses that want to broadcast throughtout the country to make fresh applications, they wil be granted. Wizard, this is progressive. Muvi n phoenix have been crying for many years. I only hear sata’s name one znbc news after 5 items. This is good. Immedietely sata and nevers querelled, nevers was on national watch on znbc. Wud this happen under mmd? Kunda stormed znbc yesterday and was allowed to critise the president on znbc news. This is good. I wil not even discuss barotse coz things r already in motion .As for yo upgrading of shantys in 90 days, this is a result of yo constant smoking of chamba.
