‘UNWELL’ Dora Siliya To Face Probe Team On Monday 1/9
EMBATTLED Former Education Minster Dora Siliya will avail herself before the investigations team at the former taskforce offices for questioning on Monday 9th January, 2012 at 08:30 hours.
Ms Siliya’s Lawyer Sakwiba Sikota has told QFM that this against the medical doctors’ advice for his client to take several weeks of complete bed rest following her admission to hospital yesterday Thursday as a result of a condition she developed in April 2011 and for which she is on medical advisory to have surgically corrected.
Mr Sikota explains that Ms Siliya’s condition worsened while she was in South Africa, and that it was during this time that a call out was left at her home, prompting her to travel back to Zambia in order to attend to the call out against medical advice.
He says this aggravated her condition leading to her being admitted to hospital Thursday 1/5.
Mr Sikota says his client has decided has decided to override medical advice and avail herself to the team of investigators on Monday because of the speculation in the media regarding her being unfit to attend police interrogations.
And Mr Sikota says it is disappointing that the police seem to have already made up their minds to arrest and charge his client without even hearing from her.
He says this is evident from the story carried in the Post Newspaper of Thursday 5th January 2012.
He states that the arrest and charging of his client has therefore been decided already and that Ms Siliya is resigned to this new way of conducting police investigations through the press.
Mr Sikota has likened the prevailing situation in Zambia to the McCarthyism era in the 1950′s in America where a general witch hunt was started.
He says it is hoped that his client will either be charged for the motorized bicycles belonging to My Home Town that were
taken from her home or the police will release the same. He adds that police have had over a month to deal with what he says is avery simple and straightforward issue.

Sikota just take your client there no wonder you miss opportunities they want to give her back those motor bikes which u know better but u are delaying,you even know that its almost a month now there have failed to come up with a case its time to go and get those bikes now why are u worried if she is innocent as u claim.

Sakwiba Sikota seems to be continuously sliding downhill! None of his arguments seem to make any sense any more. Of course the Police have to decide in advance whether or not to arrest, depending on the evidence they have! It is amazing what a corrupt mind can reduce a man to!

Dora Siliya (U.N.Z.A open,as she was once famously known ),once appeared a Dennis Chirwa tribunal. The findings of which were publicised and made public knowledge.
Dora Siliya a.k.a U.N.Z.A open was found wanting as having abused her office in awarding the airport contract to Thales company,disregarding normal tender proceedures.
Her conduct in the zamtel deal was also questioned and found in breach of the constitution. Dora,was supposed to have been prosecuted and charged,however,the next day Rupiah re- appointed her minister,itself a legally questionable move.
Dora knows,The Tribunal long convicted her,the courts under the new government will simply rubber stamp the conviction.
Which raises,the professionalism of our judiciary. In the previous government,Dora slipped from prosecution,how will the judiciary try this same case this time round.
The P.F goverment has promised to wipe out corruption,having an ethical professional judiciary is paramount.

I think as zambians we should learn from past corruption fight that a few individuals ever went to jail.dora has a right to a free and far hearing and she is innocent until proved guillty.this is to be decided by the courts and let me assure you wheels turn really slow in our judicial system.this case will take another ten years and pf will be gone by then.sakwiba is not even tonga bamumbwe!!!!

I hope this move is not to impress His Execellence. As i understand he is frustrated himself on how slow the investigation are taking. We want to see someone charged and convicted, especially dora or bwezi.

@Dany Hule. I think Sakwiba Sikota is not a Tonga. I presume he is from Barotse Land(Lozi). Dora is behaving like the way one former president used to. If you are not guilty you have nothing to fear and late alone feel ill.

People you should have respect..the laws clearly state that an individual is innocent untill proven guilty..you should be aware that the media does not give out full information, only little in order for the our minds to be tempted..the only thing we can do is wait for the courts to deal with this..if the police have acted in an unruly manner, it should be dealt with..no one is supposed to be treated in this manner..one could be sued for harrasement.. If Dora has indeed stolen. Let the prosecution and the courts decide.. Talking trash isn’t going to help either in anyway nor will it bring more food on your table.. Show a little respect!!

what do lawyers and court jurors are called learned people. If u look at zambian learned people i dont see they are learned with the reasoning they give us when it comes to cases like this one for dora where even us who are called illeterate can see that sikota seems not to be a learned person with kind of press releases is giving us

People, dont forget that sikota’s only job now is Lawyer and for him to earn a living. he has to cheat his clients even when he knows that the issue is hot. That is why you see them asking for postponement of hearings in order for them to have more court sittings and hence, more money in their pocket.
Sikota is Toka Leya from chief mukuni<s chiefdom.

Every politician who faces corruption allegations falls sick. Is our legal system so porous as to use the same tricks. Honestly corruption should make some of supporting these people to think twice and see what’s around you. Zambia is among the top 5 most corrupt country ,IN THE WORLD! !! Look at the dirt around you. The dirt at your house. Amenshi mukanbwata while people pocket millions of $ and go to sa , which of course is cleaner, and spend YOUR MONEY.! How would you feel if Vera Chiluba or Maureen Mwanawasa came to your house which you bought at k300 M and she says its worth k2.m so sell it to an white man ?
