Many would have thought the problems of illegal allocation of land by political party cadres are long gone but this is not so because the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) government seems to have inherited the trend.
The party cadres on Saturday beat up residents of plot 70/70 commonly known, as Bagdad compound after the police demolished houses that were illegally build on titled land.
The cadres allegedly beat up residents and broke some houses on the pretext that residents are conniving with law enforcement agencies to grab land that had been illegally allocated to unsuspecting residents.
One of the residents Doris Mulenga, who was severely beaten and subsequently, injured on her right hand, is appealing to government to intervene.
Mandevu Member of Parliament, Jean Kapata has been implicated in the Chifundo Kondani Market land confusion in Lusaka’s Chaisa Compound. Market Board Secretary, James Banda alleges that the current confusion at the Market has been partly influenced by area MP, Jean Kapata. Mr Banda says the sentiments by the Marketeers that the Market board has sold the market to pave way for construction of shops are not true.
The Chifundo Kondani Marketeers have accused the Market Board of corruptly selling the market to some investors to pave way for constructions of shops on the said land.

the Govt needs to move in and investigate this. innocent citizens should not be made to suffer like this, i mean why should someone beat up a poor woman instead of seeking police intervention to resolve the dispute. Zambia is a civilised society. abash this barbaric behaviour!

These Chaps are one and the same .Why do u think they parade them selves as defectors? They know that without those positions they are nothing. How do they feed their families and survive these harsh economic times? The solution is to just parade themselves as defectors and bring confusion in the ruling party so that the gullible incumbents are expelled and they get back their positions. What is worse is that the electorate vote for a party not an individual and they know this weakness and they exploit it to the full.

iMWE BAtUMFWEKO DO YOU HAVE SUFFICIENT evidence on the allegations that you are making? the problem is not about the caders or who ever but people having concrete data that can be used even to prosecute the culprits. its like in Zambia now whatever the majority says becomes the truth without going into the depth of the matter. So am hereby advising any body with information that can help the security personnel to arrest this situation to come up. NOT KUNGO FYKOLA VIMENSO NAKU BABAYIKA! ALA!

Heheheheheheh!hmhm. This is the Zambia version of Jery springer. Tumfweko.com Mr editor you are just like us who respond because you well come us and allow peoples freedom and liberty. Who the cap fit let them wear it, so the saying goes.the learned society wants to deliver a point and the iliterate go on opposing. I agree with the economics man at macro level where such monetary value can be understood. so Mr ileterate kindly research. you are even lucky now that the internet can allow you free knowledge by the search engine available.Ilegal land allocation. you dont need the president to be checking every where for you to do the right thing. People in the offices charged with this responsiblity can sort out the calprits of ilegal land allocation unless they are also involved.

Cadres if not tamed surely make the leadership unpopular. They lie to them that those tactics help propel their popularity but the wise will learn fom the past.Zambians are very wise though they appear to be a timid lot. They avoid confrontation and meet you head on election day and could knock you out hands down!

The issue of land disputes will never end in Zambia unless the government come in and solve this problem once and for all not to depend on carders. The population keep on increasing and you cannot expect father, mother their children, grand children, great grand children to stay in one place another land will be needed for the family tree to occupy. In Zambia we have enough land for every one. The national parks are just too big for animals only more especially Kafue National Park which is near Lusaka, what is needed is just to form a committee which will look into the allocation of land. Applications should be submitted to the committee. People should be settled at the place of their choice or any where as long as there is land and the gvt should make sure they take development to those areas e.g. roads, electricity, schools, and clinics things like shopping area the settlers themselves can bring shops depos etc., even the problem of poverty the country is experiencing will come to an end cos people will be able to grow enough food to feed and sell.
All Zambians start from the age of 25-80 should be given a peace of land and records should be computerised to avoid one person occupy 10 plots at least a number of 1-2 plots of land should be given to a Zambian, if 2 will be too much at least 1 peace of land should be given to a Zambian. The land problem need a serious attention I mean gvt attention not left to carders alone.

LAND ALLOCATION WAS MMD s weapon of choice,it was MMDs retirement package after wining election,it was part of the compaign package.all the township had chairman who were given power to allocate land and could go to ministry of lands were they was a senior cadre in the name of the Minister who could command the Ministry to give offer letters to these speacial people,PF cadres are not so intrested in land allocation unless those who were MMD and are now PF because old Habits DIE hard, its now the duty of PF to decentralised the offers let the Ministry of land employ people who should be in district councils and city councils,IN DISTRICTS THE HEADMENS HAVE TAKEN CHARGE TO ALLOCATE LAND THE DANGER IS ARNACHY WILL PREVAIL THEY NEED GUIDANCE.
