OPPOSITION United Party for National Development (UPND) has accused President Michael Sata of attempting to redraw the map of the country in an effort to gain political advantage.
UPND Chairman for elections Ackson Sejani says there is no way President Sata can decide to move Chirundu from Southern Province to Lusaka province without consultation from necessary stakeholders.
Mr. Sejani says the PF government should be careful with their maneuvers stating that if not stopped, they the potential bring about strife in the country.
He told a media briefing in Lusaka this morning Monday 2/6 that President Sata is only making such decisions to reward chiefs that supported him during elections with paramount Chief positions.
Mr. Sejani says the UPND will use every mean to ensure that the shifting of Chirundu to southern province is not done.
And Siavonga Member of Parliament Kennedy Hamudulu says the people of southern province will not accept any changes in the province.
Mr. Hamudulu says if the government saw it fit to make changes, it would have followed the right procedure of consultation instead of using the back door.
The Patriotic Front (PF) government is alleged to be in the process of moving Chirundu from being part of Southern province to Lusaka province.

ba Unhappy People Never Develop (UPND). from the day Mr. Michael Chilufya Sata was sworn in as the republican President after polling majority of the votes that were cast, some people have never been happy. this is clearly evidenced from the manner they conduct themselves in everything (OBJECTIVE AND POSITIVE by the PF government)nkhani yo shuta every idea. even the issue of re-introducing the corruption clause that was removed by thieves so that they can steal our hard earned kwacha without any difficult. can somebody pump sense in these brothers of ours that even if tomorrow was 2016 they can not rule this country because of a simple reason. BANTUSTAN if only they can change their mind set then we can safely say that in 2040 they could win by the majority vote. UPND its the majority vote that counts and not how many cattle one has or the number of wives!
What benefits are the people of Chirundu going to get when they are detached from the Southern province? These changes are associated with costs and who is going to foot the bills? Any right thinking person can’t support such a move.
