Zambia great Kalusha Bwalya finally lifted a African Cup of Nations trophy for his tragic teammates Sunday, 19 years after they were killed in a plane crash.
Bwalya, the former national captain and now federation president, raised the cup at Libreville’s Stade de l’Amitie, just kilometres (miles) from where 18 members of the country’s 1993 team lost their lives.
Bwalya incredibly inspired Zambia’s 1994 squad to the African Cup final, but lost to Nigeria. Now Zambia finally won, in its third final, to give Bwalya the chance to honour his fallen compatriots and friends.
He poignantly held the trophy up with his right hand to salute them after the 2012 Zambians rode a wave of emotion on their return to the city to beat Ivory Coast 8-7 on penalties.

Many thanks to the Republican president for his Forgiving, compassionate, and unwavering LOVE for all Zambians. when a lot of thugs are bussy sizing each other, he has shown that Politics is one thing and Uniting the nation is another thing. BRAVO Mr. M.C Sata. A m sure HH has learn’t something from this great son of Zambia. when the righteous are in control people rejoice but when the wicked are ruling there is confusion everywhere. May the good Lord Bless and Prosper our Nation Zambia. United we stand and Divided we fall.Thanx Kalu, Wrenar and above all the boys for bringing GLORY TO MOTHER ZAMBIA. this is how things should be.

HE NEEDS NOW TO QUALIFY THIS TEAM TO THE bRAZIL 2014. God willing I am planning to abe there. then he is going to accomplish his footballing ambition. he could do it as a player he can do it as an adminstrator. so detractors are ashmaed. i needed hiom to go but its like he needs to continue another term or terms till he goes to CAF.

It’s a glorious moment! Ba Great Kalu God has honoured you and silenced your critics. However, this calls for your magnanimity. Extend an olive branch to them and keep your ËYES ON THE BALL.
Soccer fans change like shifting shadows. I remember them calling you Great Galu when you missed that penalty kick. Relish the glory while it lasts but be prepared to be disappointed by those you are diligently trying to serve. Blessings!!!!
