Governement Awards K300 Million To Each Chipolopolo Player

The Kings of African Soccer, the Chipolopolo Boys, have been awarded by the Zambian  government for their heroic performance at the just ended Africa cup of nations.

Government has given the team K 300,000,000.00 each in winning bonuses. This is aside from the money donated to the team by other organizations.

The First Lady, Dr. Christine Kaseba-Sata is scheduled to host a special luncheon today at State House in honour of the triumphant Chipolopolo Boys.

& Great Kalu should not be forgoten. He contributed a lot to the nation in terms of soccer. The first ever to get footballer of the year award in Zambia. That also did the nation pride. We know we praise people lilya fili mukanwa. Now that he no longer kicks ball he can be sidelined & even insulted by some. Remember he was in the forefront for the need to rebuild the team after the 93 disaster and greatly helped the team get silver. He deserved to be with this team when lifting the cup in libreville.
Am sure all make mistakes. Even Kaunda who is now no doubt a hero for our nation.

To those of you saying k300m is not a lot of money, what Zambia do you live in? I am not against the players recieving a bonus but lets face it, paying players shouldnt take priority over helping the less priveledged. The politicising of every thing in the country is amazing, they are footballers not homeless vagabonds. Congrats to the guys, they made us proud.

Bane. it’s true they need counselling otherwise some of them it might end there career through various activties remember with money u can do anything and l think find a pastor to introduce them to christ so that God can help them to make good decisions over the blessing they acquired just like they way they were praying during penalties the same way they should ask God to guide them during there riches. CONGRATUALATION BOYS.!!!!!!!!

The money is not enough. Houses were going to make sense. I remember when we scooped second position in 1994, players like Tenant Chilumba crushed and lost teeth due to heavy allowances.

How much is that ZK300,000,000. In $ now back home?

  26. Momin Zed

    February 26, 2012 at 6:43 am

K300,000,000 is approximately US$60,000. That is not an awful amount of money to be honest. And to give it to people who have given all Zambians something to cheer about is nothing at all. Yes, it is very necessary that our boys act prudently with this money and use it in the right way. I wouldn’t want their fate to be like our other heroes – the 1994 finalists – who also got a large amount of money but it all got dwindled due to lack of mismanagement. Theirs is a sad plight which I do not want to see again.
