‘Put Interest Of Zambians First, Government Urged’

The council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) has appealed to the government to exercise maximum wisdom in dealing with issues surrounding the alleged fraudulent privatization of parastatal companies.
In a pastoral letter read out in Lusaka today by CCZ president Reverend Moses Mwale, the church mother body is calling on government to ensure that the interests of Zambians are protected and that Zambians working in Parastatals under scrutiny do not lose their jobs.Reverend Mwale urged government to be cautious in the way forward in dealing with companies that are under investigations adding that some decisions may reverse many of the gains scored through the privatization process. He said the government should not forget untold suffering and misery that Zambians went through during the privatization process. The clergyman further says CCZ has noted with sadness the wrangles that have engulfed the nation as a result o f unilateral decisions being made by government without the regard of parliament, political parties and the affected stakeholders. The church also observes that most of government%u2019s pronouncements are not based on wider consultation which has caused anxiety and uncertainty in some areas.Reverend Mwale has cited the re-alignment of government portfolios and districts as some of the decisions that have sparked criticism in the country.Meanwhile CCZ has expressed concern on the escalating incidents of Gender Based Violence, child defilement, dumping of newly born babies and the general fall of morality and values in the society.CCZ president Reverend Lungu explains that the country needs to move quickly from only condemning the scourge to immediate action. He says the gender based violence needs clear leadership, guidance and adequate resources both human and financial to enable the nation confront the vice.

Our President rarely finishes his sentences, why? He could start this and jump into another before finishing the 1st one.

UPND has called it incoherent speech by our President. He must be understood that way. Now, yes we need to consult broadly but we are also in a hurry to record progress in our PF administration.

It is rather distrubing that the head of the church should call on govt to address the outbreak of immorality when that is clearly the role of the church! The harvest is ready but the labourers few;so please abusa gather your flock and inculcate true christian values and not just ammassing wealth and and buying checked suites and white shoes!

mwale why are you running away from your responsibility and shifting the blame on others when your duty calls for prayer and fasting for those in the habit of defiling, gender based violence and abuse of young boys and girls? it is such minds that have made this nation to be where it is today. we are all men and women of substance and are able to provide solutions to the many problems that we are faced with as a country, the answers do not lie in the hands of one person but everybody as a citizen. Mr. Sata on his own can not do anything not until we all work together as a team. this habit of condemning literally everything he does will not bring us any meaningful development but getting involved at different levels. this is our country and we are the pioneers of the change we desire, nobody else will do it for us but ourselves.

Rocker Bryan Adams has thrown his weight behind a campaign to help build schools and hospitals in Zambia. The Summer of ’69 hitmaker has signed up as a patron of Build IT International, an aid organisation providing construction skills to adults in the African nation to boost education and health facilities. Adams says, “I agreed to become a patron for Build IT International simply from seeing the results and dedication they have to making the lives of people better by teaching a trade and providing spaces to educate children.” The organisation’s bosses hope Adams’ support will help boost its profile around the globe. A spokesman for the charity says, “We are thrilled that Bryan Adams has become patron of Build IT. Bryan’s enthusiastic support will help to raise the charity’s profile and recruit new supporters.”

Its true there is ka element of loss of direction by the pf GRZ. The so called advisers where are they when the president is making *** decisions. People are suffering more especially in rural areas. There are few teachers and health workers yet we have so many colleges. Many graduates are loaming in the streets. When are they going to be employed and have more money in their pockets? PF priotize your activities towards people’s survival please.

Indeed it is very easy to see yourself as a better performer from the other side of Government, yet given the opportunity all you can do is continue sighting the mistakes your predecessors made.
This is tatamount to diverting people’s attention from real issues. Aim to work and blame less and people will blow the trumpet for you.

We need jobs, affordable food, accommodation, health facilities, comfortable transport, clean environment and education. Additionally, if people can save from their earnings government will have more money to carry out developmental projects. Bickering will not benefit anyone and will not win any government any accolades.
