Hundreds Of Nude Cyclists Ride Through The Peruvian Capital

LIMA, Peru — About 300 nude bicyclists have ridden through the Peruvian capital of Lima to call attention to safety conditions and demand measures protecting cyclists.

Event organizer Octavio Zegarra says the protesters took to their bicycles nude Saturday to show that “this is our body. With this we go out in the streets. We don’t have a car to protect us.”

Zegarra asks others to “please respect us.”

Official statistics show 2,830 people

These are the only kind of protests that makes govts take their citizens seriously. I have said before that us zambian women need to protest topless against this nonsense of restricting our dress code. Our grandmothers use this method during the independence struggle and it seemed to work for them and helped to liberate our country

@ Abdul – I want to be able to wear my mini skirt with a belly top and thigh-high 6inch boots if and when i choose to do so – without persecution and harassment at bus stops and in markets. Similarly, i would like to wear my baggy jeans with sweat shirt and flat skonas without persecution, when i choose to do so. Also i do not want men to point the finger at short skirts when they choose to rape women. is that too much to ask of society???

All of you ranting about naked riders probably never seen the extent of human rights violation. There is a point where you should say enough is enough. One example is the Arab spring although Syria is a failed revolution because Assad is keen on eliminating his people. This riders probably had enough.Imagine a statistic of one biker killed every after one week on the road.Besides this is the 21st century for god’s sake.Visit Ibisa Island or Florida beach, you will come back with a permanent erection because your mindset is still adjusting.Defilements are rife nowadays because of wackos who cannot excise self control after viewing porn on their smart phones.Welcome to the West experience.Ask Zedians in the diaspora how their view on life drastically changed.others have even acquired an accent lol!

    March 14, 2012 at 5:24 pm

@ Former MMD Tressurer – I totally agree with you! zambian men have failed to accept that women have the right to wear what they want. For how long should we continue to have our young ladies humiliated and stripped in public simply because they have exercised their right to dress as they please??? A topless march by women would demonstrate just how fed up we zambian women are of this rubbish

Just imagine if men also decided to walk half naked in cairo rd, what would women think and feel when they see those implements men carry? Nature has it that when you are on heat you attract the oposite. to avoid being attracted and denied the chance to the call of nature men resolve to demand for an acceptable dress code. its human once attracted to lady because of poor dressing a man feels like mounting hence becomes agressive. So its not an issue of not wanting to see our ladies nakedness but to avoid animalsity behaviour in our community. Note that some men have gone for mad women because they get attracted to them since they are mostly half naked.

People are trying to present their views, nothing wrong with riding naked. That’s what protesting can cost, Zambia is just full of cowards. No wonder everything in Zambia is not progressing; unsafe drinking water, bad road network to mention a few and you are all quiet about it.

I wud lyk 2 put my royal weight behind Janet C, let give our females the freedom to dress watever they feel lyk. my heart omost dropt wen i went to a country were ladies sit carelessly and dress carelessly. I said pa Zed they can be raped. So lets allow such so we get used not being embarrased upon seeing half nude females in foreign countries, after all nudity is fashion

Janet accept one principle of a Christian nation, dress code is one issue that defines a nations morality. If the Muslim world do allow their women to show their hair, then we as Christians should have our Christians values respected. There are so many signs that can tell me that you are still single and not God fearing person. Our bodies are temples of the Lord and as a result, we owe it to God they creator. Can you mature girl and we can start calling you a lady later a woman.

  41. janet c

    March 20, 2012 at 6:45 pm

@ Zibwidi – your argument is that dress code = morality!!! Just go to the SDA church as an example – women are not even allowed to wear trousers and yet the sda church is a very big hub of adulterous affairs and fornication. so your argument is baseless. have you not heard that your friends are raping grandmothers, babies and animals – do these people and animals wear mini skirts ni pushe ko ba Zibwidi????
