OPPOSITION UPND Condemns PF Gov’t For Spending K300 Billion On Luxury CARS

Opposition UPND in charge for presidential affairs Cornell Sakala has described PF government decision to spend K300bn on buying luxury vehicles for its leaders as selfish and a show of lack of proper policies by the ruling party.
Mr Sakala said that it was unfortunate that the current government had opted to spend billion on luxury vehicles when the country was faced with so many challenges.
“ The action by the PF government is  sheer selfishness and lack of proper policies and will throw many Zambians into hardships” he said.
Mr Sakala saidthe decision by government to buy expensive vehicles was retrogressive for the country that had started to perform well in the past years.
He said the monies that government was going to spend would have been channelled to other pending pressing if the minister were truly  servants of the people.
Mr Sakala said government would have revamped industries such as Mansa Batteries, Dunlop Tyres or create a Pineapple industry in the North Western Province.
He said by doing so government would be creating jobs for the youths than asking them to become street vendors.
“It is very shocking to see the very people that campaigned so much against the abuse of public funds are awarding themselves with luxury vehicles,
“In the past government would just get ministerial vehicles without asking ministers to state what type of a vehicle one wanted but it is all different with a government of crooks,” said Sakala.
He challenged government to seriously consider the civil service and improve their wellbeing by increasing their salaries.
Mr Sakala said the current government had promised Zambians decent jobs and improved conditions of service but wondered why President Sata had asked the youths and women of this country to be selling in the streets instead of providing decent jobs for them.
He said government would have pumped more money in the youth projects than awarding themselves with best cars.
He said government should also seriously consider opening cashew nuts industry in Western Province to alleviate the poverty levels.

What is this man talking about? Which vehicles? I was expecting him to talk about the number of vehicles which have been bought from the same K300bn, where they are and who is using them, I think there is no truth in this story…..

PF = MMD, which is equal to same difference. Our time is coming. When all this nonsense will be a thing of the past. Never put poor people in power. The first thing is to enrich themselves.

A Sakala, how many vehicles are being bought and what make and type are they? The one on the picture does not qualify to be luxury. Have they bought Limos or Hummers? Please give us more information before we agree or disagree with you. If our Minstiers moved in Toyota Hiluxes, it would be a big saving.

I am a driver and right now driving these state of the art cars, no Key needed to start them.
The sad part of this is that the previous government officals i.e. PS’s, directors, Dep PS’s, Secretary to cabinet bought their previous personal to holder cars which they never used as they always used Pool cars at K5 Million and later resold tem at K100 Million (Mitsbshi pajero). Now they have bought these cars that are costing over US$100,000 each forthemselves and also the defence Chiefs. I regret voting for PF coz they gonga me. God Help us, 90 days more money in tehir pockets.

It broke my heart. These cars are expense to buy en to maintain. Lets just wait for Jesus lets never put faith in man. Apart from that the cost of 1 Pajero common amount ministers en senior govt officials is about $130,000.00 and very expensed. God help us.

Fact. they have bought some vehicles. But how many vehicles would K300 billion buy? aren’t we talking also ablout MPs vehicles? Did UPND find out the distribution of these vehicles? if these vehicles have also to go into institution such as Evelyn Hone college, NRDC and others, is it wrong? My deparment does not have a reliable vehicle and I would be more than happy to have one really. Let us not comment foolishlly when we do not have sufficient details.

These vehicles are at new govt complex. Go and see them. Do not just condemn UPND b4 you see the truth. The best is to ask where the vehicles are and how they were bought. Fools will never stop amzing some of us who know very well what is happening here. Just before election MMD bought vehicles and the same vehicles are still new and yet they buy again other vehicles. They want to sell to themselves after five years.

Luxury defined: a material object, service, etc., conducive to sumptuous living, usually a delicacy, elegance, or refinement of living rather than a necessity..

MMD government had vehicles why buy those vehicles now wrong timing PF.We want to hear about developmental programs and job creation. The kwacha is in free fall all you can come up with is buying your selves vehicles?? I understand some clinics in LSK and else were do not have medicine, Lets learn to priotize things ba PF..

So what happens to those old vehicles?? hope you have got given your selves for free..I suggest you auction them cheaply so that Zambians also enjoy
