By Martin Mwango
For sometimes I have been thinking that one time our nation will be ruled by a lady, looking at the number of women who are well educated in our nation. To the contrary women in politics, in music industry and in other social sectors in Zambia have never convinced us to have the potential of been our future leaders. Looking at some women with high profiles and talented you can notice that they have no passion for our mother Zambia.
In Zambia we have rich cultural values and in addition to that Zambia has embraced as well the Christian values that guide our moral life. Now it`s a pity to see the people we look up to, are busy playing against these values and this is making me wonder if really some women have heart for our nation. In a Zambian society a woman has been always respected due to the role she plays as a mother, and someone can agree with me that Zambian mothers are the best mothers in Africa and Zambian government have been in support of a woman to see her going forward. Not too long ago in Zambia we had a “girl child campaign” and from this campaign we saw a lot of development in our societies; a young girl was allowed to go back to school after giving birth, APU classes were introduced in schools. These demonstrated the respect Zambian government has for women.
However, women now in Zambia have become like Musical or Political instruments only, they are like an object (robots, when it is feed with information it goes and off load as it has been feed). If we may ask, where is their dignity and their human norms? Our women we know you have charismatic voices and potential to draw us to your attention but if they go out to demostrarent against homosexual, gender, child abuse etc, please don`t show your bums, breasts or tell the nation how good you are in bed and if you are a musician and you want to preach against child abuse don`t show off your thighs, belly but preach the message while holding onto your values as a woman. Look at the countries like Liberia and Malawi today the president there is a lady and in Kenya we have a woman president in an opposition part and she is standing high chances to rule the nation in future. We too respect you so much, don`t prove yourselves to be housewives only, you can also make it for a good leader of the nation tomorrow.
We are all witness to some women with high positions and talents, how they behavior in the public “poor dressing, adultery, etc. Today we can ask ourselves can we entrust our nation in their hands as head of the state. Women stand up and fight for your identity. God bless our woman.

Maybe Martin Mwango is talking about Bemba women and I fully agree with him they are mostly a waste of time and space. Other Zambian women are different and would if anything make a very good president. I mean, look at 50 years of ubuchende rule, where has it taken Zambia? Anyway, after India Sata does not even qualify in the category of ubuchende because they surgically removed the genetalia instruments for extensive ware and tear resultant from perpetual misuse. So please when you are talking about women folks, stick to your women and leave others out of this blanket failure synonymous with your lot.

Hmmmm. I think we are NOT yet ready cause of the following reason:
Quality ladies NOT coming OUT to aspire for the high office.
Politics in zambia disadvantages the women a lot.
The ladies themselves NOT fully united.
Politics a hostile environment for women.
Men pa Zed not fully prepared to vote for a woman. maybe we start with V/Presidency first.

To start with, ba Martin Mwango, you must read a lot of Western novels and watch a lot of movies and pay attention to the English language. You must also understand that cultural values are dynamic. Once you accept that skimpy dressing belongs to the present-day culture, you will have less to trouble your mind. Be informed that behind that skimpy vogeu lie presidential materials, talk about the likes of Professor Nkandu Luo, Edith Nawakwi and many more. So a Zambian woman can rule Zambia.

Change is good, let us for once acknowledge that we are all equals male and female! Remember behind a successful man is a woman. Lets take a home for instance, in as much as the man is the head of the home the woman does run the home. A woman can rule this country just as a man can. Vote for me come 2016! Ladies lets unite and show men that we too can. Actually women are more organized than men.
For you men who think a woman’s place is in the home, I pity you. A woman is a blessing to any man who appreciates the true value of a woman.

Maureen Mwanawasa is presidential material that is why RB and his lot never wanted anything to do with her. they feared her intelligence. Look at the way the country turned under her husbands rule. she was behind him all the way giving the best advice for the country. Tandiwe, oh my God.. Thank God the honey moon is over. No direction at all, selfish, greed, no wisdom it all came out in through the husband. I wonder if Dr. Kaseba is as foul mouthed as the husband is. Sometimes, you wish she could make public speached for him but he is the president and not her.

Politics of today! Wheather u fight 4 our beloved mumies to lead this nation, things will not be per yo expectations. There is only one person who will make things to be % & this one is Jesus Christ alone.if u can’t believe in him u will be disappointed on the day of judgement.a woman from the beginning has been a Helper of a man.let women backup the nation, not heading.in genesis the devil entered human race through a woman.mothers we love u just observe yo limits.God bless u mothers of this nation Zambia.

i have no problem with a female leader. the only problem is our women are so male dependant unlike our european or american women.
we need more women like the late Lucy Sichone Banda, may her soul rest in peace, then we are sure of having a famale leader sooner, otherwise the calibre of our women is below par.

According to the 2010 Census on population, women in Zambia outnumber the men 4 to 1. This means that in Zambia for every man there are four women. It also means if all the women voters decided to vote for their fellow woman, we would have a woman president without much ado. But the question is can the women do this? Voter statistics show that Edith Nawakwi, Nkandu Luo and Catherine Namugala all received less votes from the women than from the men. Their fellow women are their worst enemies. Surely, can a woman rule Zambia with this attitude?

@HearttoHeart, you are the type that make men have second thoughts about a woman president. If you can remove sexism from your mind and look at humans not as competing rivals but as partners, a woman like you will soon rule this country. But once you start saying a woman is better…, you create sides. Be level-minded.
