Nchelenge Man Beats Wife to Death
POLICE in Nchelenge have arrested a 49-year-old man for allegedly beating his 46-year-old wife to death and hanging her in a bid to cover up the crime.
Police spokesperson Elizabeth Kanjela said John Bwalya is believed to have beaten his wife Agness Chishala to death after the two picked up a quarrel on Monday around 22:00 hours at Kanyembo village in Nchelenge.
Mr Bwalya is suspected to have tied his wife to the ceiling, using chitenge material.
Ms Kanjela said Chieftainess Kanyembo reported the incident to police on Tuesday around 07:00 hours, who immediately rushed to the scene and picked up the body and the suspect.
“Bwalya went home drunk and picked up a quarrel with the wife. She was beaten to death and later hanged to the roof using a piece of chitenge.
“He then called for help from members of the community who upon reaching the scene, noticed that there could have been some foul play. They apprehended Mr Bwalya and took him to Chieftainess Kanyembo’s palace where he was detained until the following day,” she said.
She said the body is lying at St Pauls Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem while the suspect is still in police custody.
Ms Kanjela said investigations into the matter have continued while postmortem is being awaited.

it is quite disturbing. Is it that pipo die easily because of two weeks chicken they eat! Pipo used to fight but were not dying like nowadays. Women stop eating two wks chicken and interpret genda well. The waste insult to a man is a slap. And can react madly

@FAULT FINDER but you are dull! Did you stop to think the reason foul play is suspected might be because the husband tried to stage it as suicide but they found bruises and wounds on the deceased hence the reason why the villagers called in the police? No I guess your brain didn’t allow you that tefyo.I am embarrassed for you… I hope that next time you can at least try to think before writing ma rubbish!
