Opposition political parties have challenged the Law Association of Zambia to state the provisions of the law it has used to bar lawyers in the country from debating the suspension of the three Judges by President Michael Sata.
Speaking during a joint media briefing in Lusaka this morning, Heritage party president Godfrey Miyanda who spoke on behalf of the opposition political parties said it is ridiculous for LAZ to bar the lawyers in the country from commenting on the suspension of the 3 judges.
Brigadier General Miyanda noted that it is not fair for LAZ to bar individual lawyers from debating the matter adding that the move amounts to impediment on the freedom of expression.
And General Miyanda noted that the opposition has been misunderstood that it is trying to cause anarchy in the country by uniting and meeting other stakeholders in the country.
General Miyanda says it is within their constitution right to unite and speak with one voice on issues bordering on national interest.
He notes that the opposition in the country is not against the corruption fight but that they are concerned with the manner in which corruption is being fought.
General Miyanda noted that the opposition have condemned the manner in which the three judges were suspended saying the President did not follow the laid down procedures.
The opposition leaders have questioned why the Solicitor General and the minister of finance and national planning allegedly wrote to Development Bank of Zambia asking the institution to write-off the debt owed by the Post newspapers limited and JNC investment holdings.
And brigadier General Miyanda has vowed that the opposition will continue engaging with the various stakeholders including diplomats to discuss issues of national interest.
He said diplomats are at liberty to meet opposition political leaders in the country because they also do intelligence works for their respective countries.
General Miyanda has since condemned President Sata for indicating that the diplomats should stay away from the internal affairs of Zambia saying the statement amounts to threats.
He has stressed that the opposition will not stop expressing their views and has challenged the ministry of information and broadcasting to facilitate for debates on ZNBC.
Other opposition leaders that were present at the briefing included UPND’s Hakainde Hichilema ADD’s Charles Milupi, MMD acting president Michael Mabenga and ULP’s Sakwiba Sikota.

Pliz mr miyanda can you provide solutions instead of wasting your time on unfruitful press conferences. Politicians like my big man miyanda have not even a single representative, at times you wonder who they are fighting for. Pliz opposition start mobilising members for 2016, that is if some of your tutembas will survive up to that time. Leave this tribunal to do the investigations or provide the procedures as you claim mr miyanda.

Two wrongs never make a RIGHT! It is wrong for the opposition to lobby ZCTU to incite workers to hold wild-cat strikes. LAZ is right because lawyers usually debate judgments or findings of trbunals. This is healthy for law development as legal precedents are set. Remember, both sides will have lawyers arguing their case. It may not be fair to both parties to debate this matter before even the tribunal sits, otherwise those lawyers that strongly feel about this case can join either as friends of the tribunal, or as part of the defence team, pro bono. Some lawyers are emotionally involved in this issue, as such they may not render credible counsel. Saki used to go with a miniature camera for meetings with Sangwa and Mathani at the instigation of RB. It’s better the opposition consult disinterested lawyers for advice, else they be misguided. This whole thing is a local mafya matrix, ways of the MMD

If the president did not follow the laid down procedures in this issue, then there’s reason for the opposition to be concerned. Remember they are there to provide checks and balances to those in power. Winning elections does not give anyone the right to go against laid down rules.

It is interesting to note that the opposition has kept on waffling even on things that they know will not improve their political fortunes!
We shall have by elections very soon and instead of campaigning, they are busy making very futile moves! Why cant they go to the electorates and explain their manifestos! With this kind of opposition, PF will win the three parliamentary seats and mojority wards! The opposition is making Sata strong day by day!
Wake up from the slumber ba opposition and start opposing reasonably otherwise the boat is busy cruising and some of us are enjoying the cruise!

Ba General, do not go to sleep again, most of the people in Zambia have been yearning for you since 2006 to be President. I remember even the Post tried to help you through those catoons of the race where you were pictured being at easy when your colleage where on the “ON YOUR MARKS, SET READY, GO!”
All the people wanted was change and change is what they got regardless of who comes. It was like 1991 when people were ready to be under Luchembe simply because they wanted change.
You are honest, intelligent, visionary, compassionate and above all God-fearing.
I WISH YOU THE BEST and that you offer the best for Zambia.

No-one is perfect on this planet so PF should accept and let the opposition do their part in conjunction with Diplomats . If they are unfairly criticizing PF government still people will judge. On the other side of the coin criticism is genuine just accept and make some changes to suite the Opposition. For instance the number of CEOs seems favorably towards tribal-grouping ,the fuel delivery contracts,Development Bank of Zambia (DBZ) issue, unemployment rate [people are desperate],low salaries and unchanged Chinese hostile working environment

Honestly who can believe this nonsense from Musonda? If the evidence is fabricated as he alleges, it gives him good ground to rebut that evidence otherwise his ass will be bruised!
We have greater things to do for Mother Zambia and we can not sink so low to fabricate evidence in order to incriminate a small fish like Musonda!

But why do Africans have such low self esteem? How can you honestly run to the muzungu in the 21st century to complain abuot your fellow zambian? @ zambiana – you are so right. No inspiring leader so far. To dispose a ruling party, you really need a powerful inspiring person – like Kaunda (when he disposed colonialists), Chiluba (when he disposed KK), Sata 9when he disposed Banda). So it’s pa bwato for another 10-15 years

Am not the only one with doubts about Miyanda’s sincerity. Yoram Mumba expressed surprise that Miyanda denies any involvement in 1980 coupe when they were together. Even Sikatana agreed with him. Though Miyanda was acquitted, he was very involved in the coupe but was cleverer than his colleagues and also that they had agreed never to betray others. Yoram has launched his now, am sure he has mentioned it. If DBZ were unfairly influenced to withdraw the case as this group is alleging, then they need to be more tactiful than this. Remember, this case was initiated on RB’s orders.
Miyanda knows what MCS is capable of if he elects to use his venom. Thank God traits of a cobra have n’t yet manifested. When LPM was hit by Sgt. Chirwa, the rank and file of MMD suspected Miyanda. It had to take the Cobra to defend him and chide Kelly Walubita who was MMD chair for defence for having mishandled this wing. We’re headed for more drama

This govt is not inspiring. Why should the dpp and finance minister be the ones to instruct dbz to write off the 14 billion loan owed by mmembe and nchito? Whose interest are they protecting? I also wonder why the president is complaining of diplomats who met with the opposition parties….he used to do the same until the elections date. The game of politics has become dirtier.

Sata is a strategist: He knows zambians likes beakering even on matters they know very little about. So he gives them half-baked information so that they have something to keep them busy talikng and debating as he quietly work without them seeing. By the time they realise it will be too late and 2016 will find them still debating on issues instead of strengthening their political parties. THUMBS UP HE MCS!!!!
