W/Province MMD Youths Endorse Liato For Party Vice President
The Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) youth leadership in Western Province has endorsed Kaoma Central Member of Parliament Austin Liato for the position of party vice president.In a statement made available to Qfm news, the provincial says their decision was arrived at after wide consultations with stakeholders and senior citizens in the province.
They have pointed out that Mr. Liato has vast experience in the labor movement, government and his ten years as parliamentarian of Kaoma Central Constituency stating that he is capable of discharging the duties of party vice president with diligence.
The provincial youth leadership has therefore appealed to MMD National Executive Committee (NEC) members to support and vote for Mr. Liato adding that the issue of an MMD vice president coming from western province started during the time of late President Levy Mwanawasa.
They have charged that Western province has a right to participate in the leadership of the nation and that this should start with the MMD.
The statement has been signed by District youth chairpersons from all districts in Western province.
But MMD party deputy national secretary Chembe Nyangu says all members who have expressed in vying for the two positions of vice president must through the right procedure as required by the party constitution.
In an exclusive interview with Qfm news, Mr. Nyangu said all interested members are subject to applying for the positions for consideration by the NEC.
He says the party secretariat will soon advertise the positions ad interested members should apply.

This level of comedy is killing Zambia. The people of this county have already been insulted enough by these politicians and I think it is not fair to subject them to this torture.
